It's only Friday but it's already been a big weekend for new Forum member Connie Nelson of Rabbit Run and Karen Henley of Shelhaven. Today Shelhaven Beauty Mark (Gemmy), co-owned by Connie and Karen, finished her Championship at the Central Maine Kennel Club Show! Gemmy won the breed yesterday, and today took Best Opposite and Best Winners to finish! :biggrin2:

Gemmy is mom to my littermates Barkley and Checkers (co-owned with Connie) and grandmom to the Forum's McKinley owned by Jan and Ron, and JJ owned by Lightplum, from Checkers' June litter, so hooray for all of us! (Barb and Pattymaine have Shelhaven connections too but darned if I can remember exactly what they are -- somehow we're all canine cousins!)

Karen's 7 month old puppy dog, Shelhaven Eleven, is showing "major" promise and also took some very big wins the last two days, but I forgot to write them down when Connie called so apologies...I'll fill in the blanks tomorrow. With two days of shows still to go, hopefully there will be more to report then!

Congratulations to Connie and Karen! :smile2:

Congratulations on a fine showing!
We're all so proud of our sheltie forum neighbors!

How come there isn't a little smilie that is cheering?

(Ok, I'm the first to admit that posting cheering kitties for a dog is just a wee bit twisted) :eek2::lol::rolleyes2:

I am so happy for Connie and Karen--a huge congratulations to them and to Gemmy and Koivu for their wins!

We (Bailey and Joey, and my hubby Jim) are going to the show tomorrow (Sunday) to cheer them on--we are really looking forward to seeing them in person. Thanks for sharing their good news, Ann!

p.s. My Joey and Gemmy are brother and sister with the same parents: Mark and Vanna. :wink2:

Wow, those New England pups certainly can show! It is so nice to have such an extended family of pups. (I'm working on corralling my baby's siblings' parents onto the site.)

Congrats to all around for that! Conformation is one of those things that is very intimidating to me. I went to one show and loved seeing all the breeds. Kudos to anyone who can get into it and win!

Megan (Connie's daughter) here; I just had to come out of hiding for this one!

Thank you, Ann for posting all of this great news! It's been a wonderful weekend so far for us. To add, Karen's "Koivu" (Can. Ch. Shelhaven Eleven) was Reserve Winners Dog to a major on Thursday and Best Puppy in Show Friday (wow!). Koivu's mom is Nelly, who is litter-sister to Ann's Checkers and Barkley.

Gemmy's proud papa, Mark, spent yesterday in his usual leisurely manner (nap on the bed, nap on the cushion, nap under my desk), but he got pretty excited when I told him the big news from the Maine shows. :wink2:

That would be Karen, who is Canadian! Hence, his show name: Shelhaven Eleven, which I gather is the hockey player's number. (I know nothing about hockey )

Megan! Yay! I'm so happy you've joined the group!! :biggrin2: Thanks so much for filling in the blanks on Koivu's wins for me! Our fingers are crossed for today and tomorrow...I'm sure it's lovely weather for an outdoor show in Maine with hurricane remnants today (not!), but if I know your mom, she'll do just great.

Pats to Rabbit Run patriarch Mark!!

Haha, I actually had to look up the name, because I couldn't for the life of me figure out where Karen had gotten it from. I'm generally clueless about sports.

I had to look up his number to double check before I posted. My poor husband was horrified that I was looking at the maudit Montreal Canadiens website  i wondered how that name was popping up on a New England puppy. From a girl who still roots for the Boston Bruins after falling in love with Bobby Orr as a child !

Oh too funny! You're even swearing in french!!!! (But I agree, because I'm an Ottawa Senators fan, myself! And don't anyone EVER bring up the Maple Leafs, please!)

Bacca, of course, is very proud of his extended family for their wins! Congrats everyone!

They are cousins of a sort. Beauty Mark's parents were TradeMark and Savannah White, who were both Bacca's great-grandparents. I couldn 't find Koivu though on the Pedigree forum.

One of these days, I'm going to build a Sheltie Forum's family tree, we are so incestuous!

What a fabulous thought !

Actually, there is some Family Tree thing on Facebook! Maybe we can use that to build it! I'll have to look into that!

It could end up being remarkably easy....hmmmm! Something to think about for cold winter nights coming far too soon!
