Hi all,Wendy & I just returned the other day from our trip up north.Poor weather made the trip a little on the wild side.Anyhow the subject of my post is "Breeze" our new Blue Merle female sheltie. How we came to acquire Breeze is a long story,so I'm going to have to leave out a lot of details.
-We found Breeze in Prince Rupert,B.C. apparently abandoned in somebodies front yard.
-Breeze was suffering from the following
-Multiple air rifle wounds to the head & both sides
-Old factures of three ribs & the rear left leg
-Remains of what appears to be a homemade choke chain imbedded in the skin around her neck
-Malnutrion & Dehydration
-Breeze(the name of my first collie) is presently staying at our vets, she requires IV's to bring her fuid levels up plus surgery to remove fragments of air rifle pellets & choke collar.
-Needless to say her coat is a mess, but should recover with time
-We think Breeze is about 4-5 years old,has been spayed in the past
-No tatoo or microchip ID marks
-The vet feels that when Breeze has recovered her strength,we might want to consider resetting her rear leg.
-Needless to say I've left out a lot of details but will keep you posted as to how our little girl is getting on.Blue Skies Cody,Wendy Cole & Breeze
P.S. May the miserable SOB'S who did this to Breeze be triple damned for life
P.P.S.They may be right about global warming, the glacier melt is quite remarkable.

I'm glad you were there to rescue her. I hope she can make a fast and strong recovery. Poor girl. Who knows what she's been through these past 4 or 5 years??? She's a lucky girl to have you and can now live the rest of her life as a happy and loved pooch.
I don't understand these sick and twisted people and how they treat innocent animals. What goes around, comes around. They'll get what they deserve.
Please keep us updated on her progress.

I'm with Colonel Underpants. Even that would be too good for them. There sure are some cruel, sick people in this world. I hope Breeze makes a full recovery and can enjoy the good life again. Bless you for rescueing her.

Even better, allow a home made choke chain to embed itself into the persons neck than shoot at him, leave him wounded for dead. But just barely keep him alive so he can feel the pain and suffering that poor baby felt. :dead:

Poor little Breeze! Bless your hearts for taking her in. I'm sure she will grow to love you very much and appreciate all you've done for her.
I was watching Animal Planet the other day and sometimes the things you see on the Animal Rescue shows just baffles you. I don't understand how people could do things like this to an innocent animal!!!

I usually can't watch most of those shows cause there just too upsetting. People who abuse animals are mentally ill and need psychiatric help

I am sickened to hear of the devastating circumstances you have found this precious babe in. It is a travesty, that a person could be so cruel.
I will pray pray that she recovers,at vets office. It will no doubt be a long road emotionally for her,but she is in good hands now with you.
Bless you for taking her~ Has your vet givin any thoughts to how long she may be there?

OMG the poor girl. I could strangle the person/people responsible for this. Sometimes, I wish I could exact the same torture on these people that they inflicted on these poor, helpless animals. Makes me sick to the core.
Thank God that you found her and took her in. I am sure she will repay you a thousand fold for your kindness and love that you have and will show her.

How in the seven seas does a choke collar get embedded into a dog's skin?! :eek2: I really, really don't want to know the answer to that.
I hope everything turns out ok!

Hi all,Thanks for your kind thoughts about Breeze. We live within walking distance of my vet,so with Cole in tow we went to visit Breeze first thing this morning. The vets decided to operate on Breeze yesterday afternoon, after discovering the following
-The air rifle used must have been fairly low velocity as six of the pellets(pellets I think is to gentle a word, they are not like pellets from a bb gun, they were .177 caliber steel tipped projectiles which are capable of inflicting severe damage on any small animal)we believe breeze's matted coat & the rather low velocity of the rifle saved her life as they did not penetrate deeply enough to do serious damage to her vital organs.
-The seventh shot was fired from point blank range,we believe this was meant to be a killing shot.as the pellet passed behind her left ear, thru her skull destroying the optic nerve of her left eye, exiting the top of her mouth & finally embedding in her lower jaw.
-Breeze is now a one eyed sheltie, her eye was removed & sutured shut.
-The pellets were all removed & the electrical cord was removed from her neck
-Its going to be a near run thing for Breeze during the next few day's,we should know by friday if Breeze is going to overcome her physical injuries.
-If she survives her physical injuries, the next trial for her will be her mental state.Right she's under sedation, but she is a severly traumatized little dog.
-We would ask you all to say a little prayer for Breeze as she's going to need all the help she can get. Will keep you all posted, once again thanks for your kind thoughts & prayers.Blue Skies-Cody,Wendy,Cole & Breeze

Dear St. Francis, we have a little Sheltie who desperately needs your care. Breeze has been badly hurt. As humans, we are ashamed that any of our species could be so cruel to such a gentle one. Please, ask the Boss to mend her body and heal her mind. In His name we ask.
Amen

Thank you for rescuing and taking care of her.

I thought I would check in again,to see about any updates on Breeze. And I just read your post on her surgery today.
We are all going to say prayers every day for this little soul, that each day we will hear good news about her.
Theres a reason, she has survived, and I do think it was meant to be that she is in your care. She has endured some terrible things, but she has a will stonger than strong, for her to be where she is right now in your loving care.
Know that everyone here will be with you in prayer, and and our thoughts. She is going to make it,and she will come home. I know it in my heart.
When we took Bumper from the breeder,it was pure fate, that I met this woman one day back now a year ago. I was doing a wedding consult for a cake,at a total strangers home.
At the end of the consult,we got to talking about family,pets..and the like. And she said to me,wait right here I have something I need to show you.
Up the huge circular staircase she went, and emerged a few minutes later with an 8 week old blind cat,she was born with no eyes. And she proceeded to tell me that she could not sell her,and she was going to have her euthanized. I think at the time, she thought she only had one solution.
Today Bumper is a survivor. There was a reason that I was there that day,and so glad I wasted no time in making arrangements to bring her home to her forever home. Our vet said it is a miracle she survived. Yes..a miracle. She had the will to survive.

Oh wow.....I am just balling tears. I will most definitely keep this little girl in my thoughts and prayers. I can not possible ever imagine what type of person would do this. I sure do hope that he is caught and prosecuted.
Bless you for all that you are doing for this poor creature. They shot her at point blank range???? I just can't believe this. With an embedded color???? Dear God, why why why????? I am sick to my stomach.

I can't tell you how upset I am to read what cruelty was inflicted on a helpless animal.
I will pray for her and hold her in my thoughts. Thank you and bless you for taking care of her.
I hope karma is real and that you are blessed for what you are doing and the evil, evil, sick individual(s) responsible for her torture and mutilation are punished and have justice dealt out to them.

I am at a loss for words. How can anyone be so, so cruel - what are they? a psychopath? I pray that Breeze pulls through. She will have a long road ahead of her, but with love and support she will come through.
I also hope that the Golden Rule truly does apply: do onto others as you would have done unto you. I hope they get EXACTLY what they did to her.
God Bless you and your family and little Breeze.

Possibly. Often abusers start out by inflicting torture on animals.
I'm praying that Breeze will heal physically, mentally and emotionally.

I too have my stomach clenched and tears streaming from reading about Breeze. I have horrible thoughts for the SOB who did it, but most of all I have prayed (and I'm not really devout) several prayers for Breeze's well being.
You know what? The best revenge is for her to live, love and thrive under the loving care of her new family.
Please God work a miracle here and heal this poor dog, inside and out.
Waiting to hear more in a day or two...
