Hello from Dallas!

Hi eveyone!
I picked op little Max here from a very nice breeder here in the Dallas area last weekend. He's a 10 week old spitfire! He's already responding well to crate training & is starting to learn sit & fetch! He start puppy training in 2 weeks.

I love your photos, your little guy is adorable!

I especiallylove the one of him sleeping, when mine was a pup (she's almost a year old now) she absolutely would not sleep unless I crated her. She'd start stumbling around, bumping into things and tripping over her paws but she refused to simply lie down and sleep. for the first 2-3 months that we had her she had to have regularly scheduled nap times, just like a baby:lol:

We live in North Dallas, but I work in north Irving/Las Colinas. Thanks for all the compliments everyone. I keep hearing about the Sheltie shy gene. Is this something that Shelties develop, because Max is fearless & will walk/run up to any person or dog. He wanted to play with a 90 lbs Lab last night, but had to settle for chasing a Chihuahua around the area. :lol:

The 'shy gene' is typical of the breed although I've read several places that outgoing personalities are becoming more common :smile2:

Hi, First what a delightful little guy, I honestly don't think he is going to get the shy gene, although sometimes if they contact with a frightening situation that will cause them to be timid and cautious. Out of my 4 shelties I have one my newest addition at the age of 14 months when we got her who is learning to be confortable around strange people and dogs but now that she is 2 years she is doing really well.
Have lots of fun with Max and taking him to school will be great for socialization in a controlled situation.:yes::smile2:l

Neither my old boy (who recently died) or my new boy (at 4 months) has the shy gene at all.

Both are/were outgoing pups. I think it all about socialization early on.

My first boy went to puppy school and had to play with lab and retriever pups twice his size. My second boy is out and about with us when we go to our boat and cottage. Lots of dogs around. He's normally the first to make overtures, but he's been a bold boy from the start.
