Default FYI Recall on Diamond

Dry dog food. Does it ever end?

Its the Lamb Meal and Rice. Diamond is recalling this food themselves,
voluntarily. They are suspecting it contains salmonella.

Dog food always contains salmonella. The recalls are rarely because the dogs got sick, it's because humans handle the kibble, don't wash thier hands and get sick.

This is my understanding, too. And one reason I laugh so hard when people say the can't feed raw b/c of the germs haha The dog, unless has a very poor immune system, and Diamond is a decent food, I believe?, so I doubt those dogs haven't been taken well care of that are eating it, doesn't have to worry about salmonella. In fact, I just fed some chicken the other day to mine that stunk up the whole house.... they loved it, though! haha.

So I looked up this recall and the first warning was for people! Touching the kibble can get humans sick first before the dogs. It did say the dogs could get sick too though. That reminds me how they sell pig ears where you pick them out yourself by hand. Now there are signs to not touch them due to salmonella.

I realize dirty hands can cause alot of sickness. When I feed my two I wash my hands and have cups that I use to reach in the bag. My thoughts are always with my shelties and I think of those bags of lettuce that are contaminated for humans and on recall. Would I eat something on recall?

I think about the hamburger where they have huge packing companies and tons of meat are processed. When they throw the good in with the bad all of the meat becomes contaminated. There have been lots of recalls on contaminated hamburger.

When there is a recall of contaminated food for dogs its just like that wonderful bagged lettuce. Gonna eat it? Not me. Gonna feed it to my shelties. No way. Talk about tummy problems dogs and humans. Oh my!

Something you might be disturbed to find out is thay recalled beef is usually sold to dog food companies once recalled for human consumption. I met an engineer for pet food and he said it is horrible what goes into it. But then again, human food isn't much better quality today unless you buy directly for an individual.

You are right. My father was a livestock broker (cattle). I quess that is why I am so cautious. I could sit and tell stories when he was in business about what went on. Yes I am careful where I buy my meat, and from who.

The preservatives put in food aren't much better for our shelties or humans.

Take the pink slime. Its garbage from the good cuts of meat that they cut off and grind to add to hamburger. Then a bit of ammonia is added to kill the bacteria.

All sounds so appetizing???

Yes, I agree and I'm glad you see it,too. We just spent $700 buying half a grass fed cow from a.local farmer...would never, ever buy any meat from.a commercia store. Or eggs or milk. We live by tyson's headquarters and we see the chickens in the trucks on the way tj the slaughter house and they're missing most fur, no beak, sores all over... Horrible. I wont support that kind of industry. I get as much as i can, which is about 90%, .local. I don't want pesticide risen or gmo veggies/fruits either! I love how other countries make the US alter their ingredients before they will sell our products, but our government allows arsenic on apples! Sick.
