Default Raw back paw

Shelby must have hurt his foot, I am thinking it was a little thorn or grass pokey that irritated the skin. He started licking it last night, by the time I realized what he was doing. I told him to 'leave it', for the most part he listened. I did put some salve and wrapped it up last night with a sock and vet wrap in case he got started licking and I wouldn't be awake to stop him. I am going to soak his foot in epsom salt to soften the area and possibly get out the irritant. Does anyone have any advice or other ideas to treat this foot problem?

If it really gets raw might need antibiotics. Any limping-maybe Shelby strained something and that's why licking. Maybe check between the paw pads really well for a thistle or thorn...hard to tell isn't it ?
