Boy, I don't know if I am the only one, but Skye learned to sit in 30 minutes. He is so smart; mind you lay down is another story... he is so cute, he tries so hard to understand....and ends up barking in frustration; I usually do his training in 15 min intervals in the morning and evening....as I know his attention span in short for his age...

Wait 'til he hits the terrible teens -- 9 mos-16 mos. Selective deafness sets in, along with periodic "stupid fronts" blowing in.

since yesterday Skye is laying down.... but when I do it with treats he gets over stimulated and barks and gets really excited.
So I have started to do it without the treats and a very "excited praise" when he succeeds!... He is adorable..but he is still grabbing my pant legs..."typical Sheltie"!!! lol. I tell him no and try to turn away, but sometimes he still either has the pant leg still in his mouth or he grabs another mouthful from behind... (little devil)....or each step I take to leave!!!. I try to just be consistent and say NO in a firm voice which is a little louder than normal tone. Sometimes I will clap my hands to distract him and help him let go!... when he does I praise him. Any suggestions? |
