Default Taking a break

I am going to take a break from teaching puppy, basic, and trial ready classes. I've been working hard, volunteering my time and appreciate that I learn as much, and sometimes more, than the students!

I go out on a real high note. I had 5 puppies enroll in the last Puppy Star class, and 4 graduated last Monday night. All the puppies and the people were wonderful and I am really sad that the puppy that needed us most was not brought back. However, the two adorable labradors, the smooth collie and the doberman puppy passed all criteria and expectations!

It is fun watching the puppies gain confidence, skills and learn to love learning our silly little games. It was fun watching people let their hair down a little and learn to love being a little spontaneous, a little silly, and a whole lot of fun.

I will miss it, and will go back to it when the time is right. Meanwhile, an occassional meet up in the park to play training games is not out of the question.

I am sure you will be missed as much as you will miss teaching...a season for all things (sigh)...

I'm doing the reverse. I've gotten sick of all the administrative and committee related stuff of a dog club and want to get back to training. So I'm planning to get back out on the field more and take more classes. But I can understand wanting to take a break and spend time with your own dogs.

I can relate - I'm starting to feel burnt out from coaching too. I usually take the summer off, and I'm really looking forward to that this year.

I hope you enjoy your break, and I'm glad you ended on a high note!

I can understand the need for a break. I usually don't teach our November/December session because of the holidays.

I love teaching the dogs and it's actually less stressful than my normal job. I do agree, however, that a break is necessary sometimes.
