Lerwick doesn't have any merle spots left either (except perhaps on the tips of his ears), but he had a lot when he was a puppy. His mother, also a sable merle, hardly looked any different from the other sables at the breeder's place.

I've attached a relatively recent photo of Lerwick and his littermate, Spitfire (owned by SheepOfBlue), from a couple months ago. They're both sable merles, and used to be much more similar in color, but they are very different colors now... Lerwick is very blonde, and Spitfire is a much deeper red/orange color. Spitfire is in the front, Lerwick is in the back. I've also attached a puppy photo of Lerwick, to show the merle markings he had as a puppy.

And if you look for photos from Calliesmom, she has a VERY striking sable merle among her pack... he's sable on one side of his face, merle on the other. Just gorgeous.

Your MagGreggor sure is a handsome fellow... can't wait to see how he looks in a few months!

Cran's markings are really striking. I know what you mean about the smerles color change Evie is becoming a strawberry blond. I've taken to calling her red.
