Last Thursday night I attended a seminar at Temple University given by Alexandra Horowitz, the author of "Inside the Mind of dog," She asserts among other things that we anthropomorphism our dogs, meaning that we we use human experiences, emotions, perceptions to describe our experiences with our dogs
she also states that while we as their human counterparts observe our dogs, they in fact observe us way more than we give them credit. They are in her words natural anthropologist. They notice every thing. The drunk on the street, they notice the typical and the not so typical, She also asserts that they don't want to be like us. All in all a pretty good seminar. If you have a chance to hear her speak, you should. |

Nat Geo Wild channel has a show called Dog Genius that discusses this very topic (amongst others) If you get that channel highly recommend the show. They rerun it every now and then.
