I am considering putting one of the dogs, probably Natalie, into obedience.
Can anyone explain to me why I should, what I should be doing now, the pros and cons of obedience competition, etc. Also why did you choose to do this. The dogs here need something to do and I think obedience may be a good venue for Natters. Liam, if he ever gets better, would be a consideration for flyball or obedience too.

i would be a lousy one to ask. I love obedience. I love that my dogs want to be with me and will do what I ask. It thrills me to qualify and clutch that little scrap of ribbon that says, we did it!
It is a fun game for us. I often try to get too serious about it and then it just sort of spoils the whole thing. This year I keep it light, not put too much pressure on myself (I'll never be perfect, or even very competitive) but I will be my dog's biggest fan and try to show them a good time and lead them to a good performance. :) Work on the communication with your dog, your body language, your commands, your touch that conveys the love and respect you feel. Your dog should respond with more attention, more precision and a bright eyed attitude. Good luck. Anything specific you want to know about? Do you have anyone to train with?
