Jasmine was put on Proin for a few days because of leaking. She started drinking like a fish. She's been off the proin for 3 days, and is still compulsively drinking. We've had the senior blood panel, urine analysis, and the specific gravity and everything is fine. We have been picking up the water bowl a couple hours before bed. But how do we get her to not drink so much. We have a 13 year old that we don't want to deprive water too. Jasmine is also a compulsive licker, she licks metal, like thresholds, and watch bands and basically anything that is metal. She always has, and she's 9 1/2. Any ideas?

Is her water dish metal? It was be the metallic taste she likes. We can't use metal dishes with our little guy because he will see his reflection in them and dig up the water....It's very humorous but messy. He is also a food gobbler so we had to put in a special stop gobbler device. I know you don't want to deprive your other dog, but maybe use a baby gate to keep her away while you give the other water, and use a travel water bottle system for her to limit her intake. Plus I would defiantly consult the vet again.
