Our breeder very rarely updates her website. She is a very busy lady. She has a full time job, does grooming, teaches classes and right now has two litters, plus of course all their own shelties. Breeders can be very busy people so I would contact them via phone if possible and see how your pup is doing.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood & thought you had already gotten a dog from this breeder. There is a very good breeder about an hour from me with wonderful dogs & she is a very caring person. She helped a man who had gotten a sheltie from her & it slipped its leash & ran away. They searched for weeks. But her website hasn't been updated as to available dogs for almost a year. I would try calling the breeder & just touch base. Is the breeder anywhere near where someone could stop by & check up for you? There are so many people on this forum maybe someone would be near & could do that if you're not close to the breeder's location.

Uuum, ok, so you DID work with this breeder before? Yes? How was your previous experience?

I understand that breeders can be busy and with Xmas and everything and not responding in a timely manner is excusable in the short term.

But frankly, I'm more concerned that you sent a cheque for a pup, without even seeing a picture or even acknowledging receipt of your payment.....I dunno....it doesn't sit well me with me.

Mya is her new puppy that she has not yet brought home. Her first sheltie.

Ok let's back up and start from the beginning and make this very easy to understand, (I posted a pic of the puppy in the say hello the post is called meet Mya.). My fiance is a dachshund breeder & i wanted a dog of my own so she suggested i get a sheltie cause their good dogs & would be a great dog for me plus i have never had one before and she figured it would a perfect experience for me to have (this is my first sheltie), so i found a puppy on a website that said the puppies were born on 12/16/12 but had no pic's posted of them so i sent an email to the breeder after about a half hour of emailing back and forth she finally sent a pic (after several requests for the pic) I then decided she was the puppy i wanted. Now the pic i got was when she was a week old, she is now 3 weeks old. My fiance contacted her after i mailed the check to her and asked when she would be taking pic's of the puppy again she sd she might take em this weekend and as of this evening i still have no pic of my puppy whom I named Mya. It would be nice if i could get weekly pic's and weekly updates on how she is doing. I am beginning to think she is a puppy mill cause when we ask for pic's or updates and we don't get them. I trusted that I would get what I was promised, I hope my puppy is healthy and happy.

I wouldn't worry that much, as someone mentioned, managing xmas and puppies is a lot of work and some people just aren't as technologically savvy and they may also have family commitments. I don't think lack of pictures is the sign of a bad breeder. I got one picture of Tully at 4wks and none of Deska and that wasn't an indication of bad breeders, they just weren't regular posters of information. But I could call or email and get an update if I wanted to know anything.
