Default My 6 year old acts like a 6 month old!

Those of you who have been around for a while may remember me commenting that Edan simply had ZERO interest in toys and playing. This started around the time we lost our Finish Spitz, which is almost 4 years ago now.

We brought CJ home 2 years ago and that helped very little. CJ would attempt to engage him in play but he just wasn't interested so she gave up trying to engage him.

Over the past year to 1.5 years we've had little starts and stops of play but it never lasted very long... until just before the 2012 holidays. NOW Edan almost can't get enough play. He'll bring toys over and drop them at your feet. If you ignore him, he'll drop them on your foot. If that still doesn't get you to play he'll find another toy hoping that one will make you play. He did this as a PUPPY and hasn't done this in YEARS! He tugs, fetches, runs with other dogs (in a controlled environment and only dogs we know). HE tries to engage CJ in play and now she ignores him.

CJ and Edan do play together - tug together and will chase one another. It's ADORABLE to watch them tug against one another. Edan will drag CJ all over the place then, all of a sudden, CJ's pulling him along. I'll have to try to get some video but it never lasts longer than a few seconds and if you move it makes them stop.

I LOVE having my playful pup back.

Wow ...what a lovely story! Sounds like he was in mourning for a very long time and now he's living fully again! Enjoy it! Having it on video will make a lovely keepsake! Share it here - we'd love to see!

I know you must be over the moon happy! Thrilled to know that little Eden is back to playing and enjoying life. I have a girlfriend in Alabama with two Shelties. The male won't play and won't engage with her female (both from rescues). Breaks her heart and mine.

If my little boy can learn to play again hopefully your friend's rescue can learn to play as well. Who knows what magic time holds for these little ones, they are fully of surprises.

The word that came to my mind was joy and how joyful he is playful again, wonder what clicked that changed him.

I'm so happy to hear this! I know how log you've waited for him to get back that "spring in his step".
