I am sorry to hear about this Ann, I too thought maybe with the given circumstances of Sandy they might have made an exception this time. Well give Checkers a hug for me and have a blessed Holiday with your Grand daughter.

Bummer!

I don't think agility works like that...at least not when I was trial secretary for USDAA. I accepted entries that were correctly post marked up until I built the final running order.

I guess you better give Checkers some extra turkey so she's not too sad! :)

AKC agility does. If it is not recieved by the stated timeline for either the draw or final closing you are out of luck. But then again in AKC at least around here there is usually a waiting line of people who didn't get in after the draw so forget about getting in with any entry after the draw is over 99% of the time(finally closing is usually 2 weeks later). !st come enteries better be there 1 or 2 days after opening or forget it.

AKC obedience doesn't fill here most of the time but if you miss the closing for any reason too bad. I missed any entry because a blizzard held up the mail so if I really need/want to get in I aim for day 1 or go online.

All AKC events close on the closing date, regardless of when the entry was mailed. With the exception of closing dates on non-mail holidays (which is a stupid choice anyway), they allow one more mail day after closing.

Around here, most agility events fill, so opening dates are more important than closing dates. Obedience trials also fill. I returned 60 entries to our clubs last obedience trial.

My mom missed mailing an entry to an agility trial by three days, and she is #238 on the wait list.

Well in case you were ever truly interested--just do USDAA! Competitive, fun, AND no limits on entries! (So no waiting lists!)

I feel your pain! Many years ago we were campaigning one of our youngsters for top westie puppy here in Canada. Then the storm hit and took off a 4 foot section of our roof. The dog room, grooming room, kitchen and family room were all under about 1 foot of water. The grooming that needed to be kept up was impossible to do between work crews and things being ripped apart. In that final month that she could be shown as a puppy, we couldn't show her and lost our entries. The good news is that her litter sister, living with a friend, ended up taking the honours but..........I gotta tell you we felt robbed. Ah well, you just wait for the next major and enjoy a great Thanksgiving.
