Default growth spurt or something else?

so jene is now about a week from 7 months, and he is currently 12 3/4" tall in the front legs and 13 1/4" tall in the back and weighs around 8 lbs. now my question is the last four days he has been eating all the time (he usually only eats a few bites a day, not a big eater) so the last four days hes been eating constantly, sleeping alot! (doesnt usually sleep alot either) and hes been extra affectionate cuddling as close to my body as possible. is this a big growth spurt? i mean its been four days, i thought spurts were only supposed to last one or two so im a teensy bit worried, but im hoping he gets a wee bit bigger, what do you guys think?

heres some cutie pics, the last one is jene and his girlfriend kavi holding paws!! :)

Very cute, I love his tail! I'm not sure if it's a growth spurt but I noticed you mention he's been extra cuddly. My sheltie isn't much of a cuddle-bug but I've discovered that he does snuggle up more when he isn't feeling well. Like the first few days after getting neutered and when he had to throw-up a piece of a toy he swallowed. I'd keep a close eye on him just in case. Hope all goes well and sizes up some

Yeah he's been all over me this whole week, eating and sleeping a ton. He's usually pretty cuddly normally, but now he like lays on top of me and as close as he can get to my body hahah but I'm not complaining, its adorable. Just don't know what to think, he still runs and plays normal and everything, he must be growing a little cause people are telling me how tall he's getting..but of course I'm with him everyday so i can't really tell :P
But i will definitely keep an eye on him, it would be pretty weird for a growth spurt that longer than a day or two.

Sorry....I'm missing something as to why you are worried???? Dog is growing and eating and sleeping. Sounds like a normal dog to me!

Sammy is the same age and he weighs almost 20 pounds!! I think he's a tub 'o' lard. Sammy has started to get more cuddly, too. I wonder if it has something to do with their age. Your little guy sure is a beauty. Janet

At that height and weight he might be throwing off a lot of body heat, particularly if the weather is cold. The only way to replenish the heat is through eating, so you want to be sure he's getting enough calories not only to maintain his weight, but to grow as well. My little Dickens at four months is the same height, but weighs 17 pounds, and he looks gangly at that!

oh wow!! i never thought of the cold and the body heat being a reason, maybe thats why hes extra cuddly also. we spend alot of time in the living room and theres a draft that comes through the door where we are. that would make a lot of sense. thank you!! i was really getting worried about how much hes sleeping lately, that kinda eases my mind haha. we havent been able to do alot of exercising or walks outside since its been in the negatives here. weird for him to sleep so much without exercising. but yeah hes only 9 pounds but he looks like hes getting beefy. he doesnt really have a sheltie body, the vet said hes all collie, except for his height. hahah
