My Olive answers to "puppy" or "stinker" (and "stinkbug" if it's coming from my dad, bless his heart, but we're just happy my parents use the right gender most days) just as well as "Olive", but DH uses them interchangeably.
Speaking of my Olive- the rescue named her Bambi since she prances around, but her fosters and we were not so fond of it (first night with the fosters, she escaped into the woods and they had to run through the woods yelling "Bambi"). We had already picked out a couple of names before we picked her up and decided Olive fit best. After a month plus of going by Bambi, she transitioned to Olive very quickly.
