This little girl popped up in my litter and I'm still questioning her color. Her sire is a white factored bi blue and her dam is a bi black (who we are assuming is white factored, too, since she produced this puppy). But she has an awful lot of white on her head for a typical CHW.

As you can see, most of her head is white, accompanied by a black patch on her right side. Her body is mostly white on the right side, and on the left there is a lot of color. The base of her tail is also colored. I can get more pics if anyone would like.

So... what are your thoughts? I can give more history on the pedigree if needed. I've gotten a few opinions from others, but I would like to hear what you guys have to think.

Are you sure the dam is bi black? She could be bi blue but there is just so little blue coloring that it's hard to tell. I'll try to find some examples. Also some pictures of the dam and sire would help.

She's a harlequin. I'd bet the sire is a domino pattern blue. I've had one pop up before, and know of another a friend had in her litter. She is not a CHW and it has nothing to do with white factoring.

I'd like to see photos of the merle parent. I don't think this is a CHW.

It made a lot of sense given the color of the sire, and his pedigree.

These are both of the parents

The dam is not a cryptic.

Thanks for your input and the link. Do you mind if I ask what happened to you and your friend's harlequin puppy?

I placed mine as a pet. I'm not sure how she turned out, as I didn't get any photos as she grew up from the family who bought her. At 8 weeks, she was largely the same as she was at birth.
My friend though kept hers for agility and this is how she looks as an adult:

The same bitch (who is a domino pattern merle) produced this dog as well:
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/39721_1519906807963_113804_n.jpg which is similar to what the grandsire of your dog is... except this one is also a cryptic merle. This photo doesn't show it, but there is a tiny patch of blue on her face. So this dog is a dilute and cryptic.
The sire to both of these pups is a bi black. He is not a cryptic. His mom was pure for sable and dad was bi black. No merles behind either of them so very certain these weren't double merles
The sire of the harlequin I produced is a domino pattern merle as well. According to Cheryl's article, the domino patterns can only produce more dominos, harlequins, and cryptics.
Given the white on the ear, you will probably want to baer test that puppy when it gets older. Fortunately both of the harlequins I mentioned could hear despite large amounts of white on the ears.

Yes, I will be getting everyone's CERF and BAER done. Her coloring worries me but I am praying for the best. Hearing that your two were fine gives me some hope. I really appreciate all the info. Thanks :)
