Default New Bag of Food and.......

Opened up a brand new bag of dog food. This is the first time this has ever happened to me.

Darn did I ever get a shocker. Zillion tiny brown bugs were inside. Thank goodness it was garbage night. I called the store where I bought the food, and told them about these little tiny brown bugs. I wasn't blaming them, more then likely came from the vendor. The store is very clean.

The manager said bring the bag in, I said no I am not transporting bugs in my car. Now this is the day before Christmas Eve. I am having Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Oh how wonderful. The day after I am still putting stuff away. Then comes the snow. Today was D DAY. I did cut the scu off of the bag outside with a flash light, of course it had to be dark out that night.

Anyway they were great. I made them empty the bag of food to make certain that bag did not have bugs and it didn't. So he took the empty bag to give back to the vendor for a refund. The guy told me it happens, and I said I hate when that happens to me. The manager knew I was telling the truth for how upset I was. OMG I am having parites with a threat of bugs, none got loose. I ran out with a garbage bag and put the food inside.

What an adventure. Thanks for letting me tell this tale of woe.

Oh yuck! I would have freaked! Glad the store refunded the food. We get vacuum sealed food -- no bugs there!

I believe that is why the manager believed me, I was freaked out. Horrible especially when your having a house full. I just had a vision of everyone being here and having the food out, swatting bugs. On a normal day I would have freaked out, but HO HO HO made it even worse.

Merry freaking Christmas.

What food was it? And did you happen to check the expiry date on the package?

Not clear who is at fault here between the store, distributor and manufacturer. If the bag was 100% sealed when you got it, then it would have to be the manufacturer. That's a much bigger problem because its points to a problem within the manufacturing facility.,

If the bag was partially open, then it could be the distributor or the store.

That's not to the store is not clean. I have this problem in particular with wild bird food which often comes in bags with air holes. We try to stay on top of it with our freshness checking every week. p.s. we are no longer carrying that variety of bird food going forward.

Its the food I have been feeding Lucky for 10 years now, and Lil' Lady 7 (Lady is 7). After all of these years this is the first, but it could have been any brand from what I hear from friends that this happened to them also.

New bag, never opened, experation date well into 2013. The store was great about it, and they will contact the vendor. I am also going to call and let them know. I just haven't had the time.

Its rare that this happens from what I understand, but it happens, just don't like when it happens to me and the puppers.
