Belson has had his named changed to Arty....and all names are reference to famous drummers.

Delta, the momma, was abandoned before she gave birth - she whelped in the pound. And the entire family was on the short list to be euthanized before Austin Sheltie Rescue got them.

It just makes me so mad. Delta is so sweet and smart and a love sponge. She adores attention. The puppies are growing everyday, and are so much fun to watch! The only down side is they sure can poop! They are starting to eat solid foods right now - I have them on a schedule to be fed four times a day. I'm not getting much sleep, but I am having fun. And taking lots of pictures! They were five weeks old today. I am happy to be helping in raising them - several people from ASR have been pitching in to help.

More updates promised!

Thank you for helping out with the mom and the pups and your friend's for fostering them.

Delta is just so lovely! The pups are sure to be gorgeous dogs.

Oh gosh thanks for the update. Delta looks so incredibly sweet. I know it's hard to believe, but the pounds do that - they don't have resources for newborn litters, so they are usually PTS right away. I didn't know that until I started volunteering. Our no-kill shelter will go get these mom and litter combos from the pounds to save them.

Can you even imagine working at a place where you'd be putting newborn puppies and their moms to sleep? Churns my stomach.

Thanks Beth for all your hard work, I know you must feel good about it.

ARgggg!!! this makes me so mad !!! We can do better. PTS new born pups/kittens is just plain lazy !! We have a big shelter in our town and this is how they handle these situations too...pups/kittens are so easy to home b/c of the irrisistable factor. All it takes is some imagination and networking...and caring. God bless you rescue and foster folks !!!
