Default Please pass along to any rescue groups in your area

I got this email from the K9AmberAlert group. Seems some of the shelters with animals from Hurricane Sandy are now sending them to rescues. I know how hard it was to reunite pets & owners here after Katrina because there was poor record keeping. Many pets still haven't found their old homes. Let's not let this happen again.

[K9AmberAlert] Pets being moved out of NYC Shelters - URGENT ACTION NEEDED NOW

**PLEASE CROSSPOST WIDELY**

The real extent of Sandy’s devastation and the pets now missing is still unknown. Pets are being moved from shelters in affected areas out to rescues and we must act now to record and track these pets so that their families can find them.

These pets can be easily tracked if the rescues moving these pets out, just record them as Found and puts the pet listing the map at the location of the shelter. PUT a note in the description field something like this:

This pet has been rescued from XYZ Shelter by ABC Rescue. Please contact us if you believe this is your pet.

Please help spread the word so that people whose pet is missing also list on the website www.helpinglostpets.com. This will make it much easier to match up lost and found pets because the website is map based.
