I was coming out of a store and a lady and man in a golf cart had a little sheltie between them and I screamed like a 9 year old, well maybe like a 4 year old "There's a sheltie, look look, a sheltie" I don't remember jumping up and down and hope I didn't do that too. These lovely people turned around and came back so I could meet their baby. He was the cutest merle, I never saw such a beautiful face up close like that. This dog radiated love for his Daddy and hardly took his eyes off him. They are from Canada and the Sheltie was from their daughters dogs, she is a breeder. The parents couldnt have been any prouder telling me her wins and travels. The kennel is Maclaren shelties, anyone heard of them or is the lady on this board?
I was told she was going to be in Brooksville so I hope to meet all the dogs. They told me they didnt have a fenced yard, and it is no problem, the dog walks every morning and then he has breakfast and then his Daddy has to take him for a drive in the golf cart and he lets him know when it is time to go. It was so sweet to hear and see this boy with his parents. |

Sounds like something I would do too! I know I startled a lady and her son in France a couple of years ago with my enthusiasm - they had an adorable sable Sheltie pup in their arms - thank goodness they spoke some English, and didn't think we were totally crazy. My hubby showed them the picture of the girls he carries in his wallet and they smiled and nodded.
Can't help it - if I see a Sheltie I have to meet it! ![]() You've got the fever bad, though. I sure hope you are able to find a Sheltie to love on pretty soon. Did you ever check with Sunchaser's Mid-Florida rescue?

No I haven't checked with sunchaser yet, but sent an email about what is going on here, or was going on last month. I was having work done on the house or suppose to, handyman finishing and showing up seem to be an issue here were I live. I thought I would finish the house projects I had started before bring a dog into hammering and sawing in a house in a bit of chaos and lots of loud noises. Then I found that pretty little boy and well rethinking the whole have to have a female dog, so I think I am more open minded now in the gender at least.
I was suppose to have a kitchen island cut down in height and widened instead and we're building a built in desk area in the eating nook. We have the cabinets bought and sitting here in the living room and the carpenter didnt show up. The closets were finished and the painting in bedroom gets done next week. The kitchen hold up is really not sitting well with me, I was promised I would have everything done and a dog before my birthday and that was the last week of october. I dont know what to do about the kitchen project now? I also had my cats all up to date on shots and one needed a dental done and an extraction and wanted to make sure they were doing well and no issues before bringing on a new baby. The whole senior panels and then some all done and no worries, healthy little furkids and great shape for senior animals. Reading tinsel journey and sally I thought quiet and normal seem to work better for rescues and we are normally a quiet calm slow moving household. With workman and tools making noises It didn't seem like what you would introduce to a new rescue. |

That makes sense to me to get all the hammering done before bringing in a new rescue.
And whatever they tell you, it ALWAYS takes a LOT longer than they say and it ALWAYS costs a lot more than they tell you. At least that's been my experience! |

I'm the same way, and people are like that with me, its funny, because yesterday I was out doing errands (couldn't take Beau with me) and everyone asked where's Beau. Its hysterical

Bless you for putting you wanting a dog on hold while the workcrews are about before jumping in and getting a puppy or adult. So many people don't realize the need to do this - it is hard I know.
Good luck with your kitchen. We had just stripped the kitchen down to nothing, not even a floor, to do a total reno when my husband ended up with a necrotizing pancreatitis that they didn't think he would recover from. Thank God my family went into action and by the time he was released from the hospital I had a working, if not totally complete, kitchen. I'll have my fingers crossed that the delay is short and you are in the position to welcome a newcomer really soon. I look forward to hearing about it. |
