Default Another 9 points towards our OTCh title

Yesterday Davina and I returned to the obedience ring after our extended hiatus and I have to say she did it with style. In Utility, 31 entered, 26 showed and Davina earned 2nd place. We are half way to the required 100 points to earn the OTCh title. Normally Davina is slow to retrieve an article, but she blasted from my side as though the article pile was filled with treats and she returned just as fast. Her slowness has caused us to loose points in the past, so hopefully this problem has been cured...for how long, who knows, but I'm going to enjoy it until the problem resurfaces.

Our Open performance was the first of the day and she was just so happy to return to the ring that she actually forged during heeling. Davina has never forged, lagged once or twice but never forged. During the Drop on Recall, she normally stops on a dime and drops, but yesterday she slide atleast 3 feet going down. I was very surprised that the ring was much smaller than a normal Open sized ring which made throwing the dumbbell a challenge and ensuring to give her the drop signal quickly. She qualified in Open, missed placement by 1/2 point.

9 OTCh points and another UDX leg and above all, one very happy sheltie,

Dani

It wasn't so much her attitude but her confidence. I had unknowingly sent a mixed signal to Davina when trialing It wasn't until months later that I ran into a friend who had videotaped us at one of the trials and I saw what I was doing.

Video camera, tripod, remote - packed!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the comments. Remember, if you heel with your left hand at your midsection, keep that hand there even during the Fast or you might be telling your dog to stop/stand!!

Don't you hate that when you find out that you're the problem along.

But then all of my dogs will tell you that I am the problem child in our team anyway. Glad you figured it out. Happy trialing.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I've been waiting for the kennel club to post the pictures of the trial on their website and I'm still waiting.
