Default Edan & CJ Compete In Their First APDT/USDAA Rally Trial

Today Edan, CJ and I went out to participate in our first APDT/USDAA Rally trial. (APDT Rally is now owned by USDAA and they are in the process of changing the name to USDAA Rally.) It was a last minute decision and the trial offered on site registration. I went to the trial to get some practice on an actual course before our local Sheltie Specialty in a few weeks. I know APDT and AKC rally are different but I figured it couldn't hurt.

Edan and I took an APDT class a few months ago but hadn't practiced very much. When we saw our first course map, I was caught off guard by some of the signs in level 1, such as Halt, Pivot Left, Halt - a sign that doesn't show up in AKC Rally until Advanced. This was actually a good thing since we needed practice on some of those signs anyway. In the three different trials we had today (basically 3 different runs) Edan scored a 206, 202 and 201 to earn his RL1 title and an Award of Excellence for finishing level 1 in 3 tries with scores over 195.

CJ was entered in this trial with no expectation to Q. I just wanted to practice for her venture into Rally Novice in two weeks at the Sheltie Specialty. She surprised the heck out of me; especially since she NEVER saw a Pivot sign, Married stations, or some of the APDT L1 signs that would normally be in Advanced in AKC Rally. She also qualified in all three trials with a 194, 180 and 190 to earn her RL1 title.

I'm so proud of both dogs! They worked hard today and it shows. I'm also a lot more confident about CJ in AKC Novice B in a few weeks because APDT Rally is MUCH harder than AKC Rally.

Does get a bit confusing, for me it was AKC after APDT, same "Huh?" what does that sign mean

Unfortunately no pictures or video. I was there by myself so no one was able to video for me. If I get a chance later today I'll pose them with their title ribbons. (We didn't take any of the Q ribbons, just the stickers. We have too many large boxes full of ribbons.)
