Only thing to deal with matts in pants is weekly brushing. Prevention is best!

Pants should not matt like ears do. I think what you are talking about is just really fat pants.

Best remedy for that:

I recommend a groomer. There is nothing better than a good warm bath and a high velocity blow dry to loosen up the pants. Truly!
