Default Recommended kibble in the UK

I was recommended by my vet to feed Pro Plan to Darla when she was a puppy and although she seems to be doing well on it, I have heard it isn't a great kibble.

Would any other UK sheltie owners be able to suggest alternatives that are good quality and that they have had success with? Or do you think that as she seems fine on it now I shouldn't change unless I need to?

With all the kibble choices, it's rather confusing

I don't feed dry kibble myself but know other breeders and owners have found Royal Canin and James Welbeloved to particuarly suit shelties.

I tried Burns, but Merlin was unimpressed. We switched to Chappie along with wet NatureDiet and Merlin loves it. He refuses to switch to anything else and as it is reasonably priced and good for sensitive tums I don't see the need to change him to anything fancier.

Vet food is over-priced and not necessarily all that good.

Other options for you which I have heard good things about is
Wainwrights (I used to feed the wet version)
And
Skinners

Oddly enough mine are on Naturediet and my Auntie's Merlin is on Chappie (also sensitive tummy issues).

I did give Origen a go for a while with Yogi and he ate it happily enough. However when we found out it was a mechanical rather than physiological issue that was causing his problems and he was 'fixed' we changed back to Naturediet.

Chappie huh? I'm sure my vet said it was a bad food... I'm really confused now

The cynic in me thinks the vet is telling me that Pro Plan is great as they sell it at the surgery (I actually don't buy it from them, I get it cheaper from a wholesalers).

I just want what's best for my pup, should I change? Is Pro Plan really that bad?
