Bi black, if my dogs are not reliable, they won't be left alone in the yard. If I have to clean up poop in the yard and my dogs are bound to run fences with anyone who passes by then they will be either
a. put in long down on the terrace / if reliable down present/. b. If not they will be inside of the house. Entire point I was trying to make that I attempt to be proactive and not create/rehearse bad habits from happening as oppose to react to what my dog doing. Barb, I continued this conversation because you seems genuinely wanted to know how other people live without need for collars, water sprays, yelling at the dog etc. I pass no judgement here, what important to you might be irrelevant to me and vice versa, we all different. Not to say that I do not holler at my dogs , I am human... but my hubby usually asks if it made me feel better as it is firm belief in my family that it teaches dogs nothing...as for going out in cold and during the night I do not like it too, unfortunately I do not have a fence so my choices are limited to 1. train my dogs to not bother me till I am good and ready and awake 2. have their business done under 30 seconds outside

I think we can just agree to disagree here. Our circumstances are different and there is no one size fits all answer. I just encourage the forum to be non-judgmental and respectul when someone makes a choice, even if they do not agree. As always, when someone asks, we can chime in, but then know when to bow out. Mod's, I think this thread is done, unless someone has something more to add. A good discussion regardless!
