Default Efforts for World Championship

This is what I heard. Those comming to tryouts for the Iternational Team(EO)or the World Team(AWC) or both! This was done to ensure that those who want to experience top International competition have that opportunity. The AWC in South Africa will be a great experience for thos who can go.The cost, health requirments, and the required shipment of dogs in cargo make this a trip that will have many unknowns until very close to the competition and that makes it hard to budget, organize&plan for sending a full team to South Africa. As was noted in the podcast even small dogs that typically fly under our seats here in the US to Europe must fly to SA in cargo.Non-stop from Atalnta is a 16 hour flight to Johannesberg.Dog/Handlers can be named to both teas if they are interested in going to the AWC.There may be the same 12 dogs on both teams or it may differer depending on who is interested in competing in SA.Nancy will coach the practice 9for everyone on both teams) and the EO in Belgium. As we get closer to the AWC event a decision will be made if she will travel to SA.

I have only heard of a small handful of teams applying from Canada - and none that have been on past year's teams. It's a matter of opinion, and everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I would never put my dog through that for one competition. They don't care if they play in their own back yard or 1/2 way across the world...so going is soley for our own sake and I don't feel putting our dogs through all that is involved in getting there (and the risks involved) is fair to them. They always give us everything they have no matter what we ask of them - it's our duty to make sure we always put their best interests first. When I look at my dog, I just can't do that to her.
