Default Our baby is growing up!!!

Now that the craziness of finals & holidays are over, I thought we would check in to say hello to everyone and wish you and your fur babies a happy new year! Cali has been growing like a weed! She just hit 11 pounds now, at 5.5 months. Since she is our Sheltie "guinea pig", we have no idea how much bigger she will get, but so far she is a bit smaller than we had expected. It has been such a joy watching her grow into her "fluff", I find myself wanting to brush out her big bushy tail every day :)
Here is the photo update on what she has been up to:

And and Happy New Year to you and yours, as well.

Your Cali is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing her with us.

AHHHH, Cali is just boootiful. I had to giggle at her cute face. Shelties will vary in size. The one I have now is very small. I had two before that where much larger. Hunter is almost 11 and weighs 18lbs. My previous male weighed 34lbs and the female weighed 27lbs. They were not fat just bigger. Enjoy the puppy years because they are too soon gone.

Cali has such a pretty face! It's funny how sizes vary. Scout was petite, at around 14" and never more than 21 pounds. Jagger is only 9 months old and already weighs a hefty 23 pounds.

My Callie is even smaller than most of your dogs. She's about 16 months old, and has topped out at about 14 pounds. I'm pretty sure she's not up to breed standards, but it's OK as I love her anyway!

As far as I'm concerned, she stayed the perfect lap-size dog, and I'm glad she stayed little as we weren't planning on breeding or showing her.

Thank you everyone!!! We are quite smitten with her :) Her vet has been saying she seems to be about average size, but in the end we don't mind either way. She will be getting spayed shortly, so she won't be shown or bred either. She is strictly a furry family member to us .

My Dickens's mother weighed 44 pounds, believe it or not! I understand that this is a breed whose size is hard to pin down, since there are so many larger-dog influences within the breed. Dickens, who weighs 17 pounds at just over four months, will probably get up there in the 30-pound-plus range, but I don't really mind, since he's a pet dog.
