Kind of new, kind of not

Hello, all! I just signed in, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

When I was 12, my family got a sheltie named Sadie. She was supposed to be a family pet, but in true sheltie fashion, Sadie chose me as her favorite human. I obedience trained her, and despite my inexperience and because of Sadie's willingness to learn, we came out of it with our C.D. She was my best buddy for many years.

When I graduated college and got my first teaching job, a very elderly Sadie and I bought a little blue merle boy named Jack. When I was married a year later, both dogs (eventually) accepted my new husband, but it was clear that both felt they had seniority on my affections!

It's now 20 years later. My husband and I have an 8 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. Last year we purchased a home with a huge fenced yard, so we've decided it's time for a dog...and not just any dog. Of course it has to be a sheltie. I hope to bring a puppy into the family in the spring.

I look forward to coming to the forum with questions and stories, and I look forward to "meeting" everyone.
