Default Alternative Arthritis Treatment

Bitsy Boodle had her second treatment by our holistic vet. Dr. V comes to the house and does acupuncture, chiropractic adjustment, reiki and laser treatment to improve circulation where needed. The first treatment lasted nearly a month! Bits will have 4-6 sessions altogether, them maintenance as needed. It's such a joy to see her move without stiffness, observe her now lovely posture and her relaxed facial muscles. No more pain!

Here are pictures of her getting acupuncture and wearing her goggles for her laser treatment.

I have to admit that I'm a skeptic with these treatments both for human and pets.

I tried chiro myself and never found the treatments lasting more than and hour or two

I've never tried the other. But my only comment would be that if you were going to try this on your pup, do you research first. I believe it is mostly unregulated and probably requires no certification, so just know who it is you are going to.

That's great! Lexi is on a regular chiropractic schedule, too, and I think it's great.

I appreciate your concern -- and I agree. If you don't know anything about alternative medicine and holistic care, you can easily be led down a tricky path. I'm fortunate -- I have experience as an advanced practice oncology nurse and have studied many of the techniques in the holistic arsenal. Dr. V. is a fully certified veterinarian -- we checked her out thoroughly, you can bet!

In my family, we all have used chiropractic care as needed over the past 20 years with great success. My DH had excellent results with acupuncture when he was having trouble with his blood pressure. But it's not for everyone, and I respect anyone's choice for their own and their pets' care. Barb's right -- check out any practitioner: vet, MD, dentist, acupuncturist, chiropractor -- thoroughly!

Thanks for the "words to the wise," Barb!

Ah! Chris! You know that I know that you know this stuff!

I just didn't want anyone to be taken in by "quacks" and find a practioner via the Yellow Pages.....

I really thought that the homeopathic treatments and potions were a scam. Then I tried one of the homeopathic medicines for my border collie and changed my mind. I've also talked to a lot of people who have been helped by non conventional treatments. Now that I have a more open mind, I find there are no homeopathic vets in my area. I would have to drive 100+ miles to Chicago to find one.
