I actually had to forgo the grooming today. Sick cat at the store (upper respitory illness) and I needed to be ready to bring her to emerg today - I do have an appointment for her tomorrow

As it turns out I did not have to bring the cat in but did not want to be caught midgroom.

But I think the approach is still sound to reintroduce him gradually. Plus Bacca's is getting his hypo and liver tested on Monday. If his hypo meds are out of whack this could explain this behaviour as well. His skin condition right now is horrible too.

So I think he is going to get a more leisurely bath at home this weekend instead. Not shampoo, but I'm going to try the Oxy Med Rinse for what I think is seborrhea due to his hypo.

Poor Bacca and poor you. I know what it's like to live with a dog with health issues and it's not easy. You love them so much and feel so helpless to get them back to normal. As a breeder I would feel so bad for placing you and Bacca in this situation. I hope that an adjustment to his meds is all that is needed. Give him a hug from me.

Thank you Tagg (and everyone!). I truly hope that it is his meds out of whack because that's easily addressed.

p.s. I lay no blame on my breeder. To the best my knowledge, he is the only pup of probably about 6-8 litters that she's had that is showing these issues. That's not to say that there isn't a ticking time bomb out there. She's very much aware of the situation, and I can only hope that she's taking this into consideration in her breeding program.

Hope you get all this sorted out for you and Bacca's sake. He was probably overwhelmed by it all, but you can fix that. And you are getting his levels checked out and can adjust his meds as needed. All will be well soon. You are a good sheltie mom.
