Our neighbors gave us a set of Mutlucks for Treesa. It is a very generous gift for sure.... But.....What is the trick to getting them on....? Anyone?
Thanks,

I'm guessing they're like the knock off petsmart version we have- a rib sock secured with velcro straps? If so we fold back the sock, wedge olive's feet onto the foot bed so her toe is at the edge (it'll slide back as soon as she stands up) then flip the rib up and secure with the strap.

Muttlucks are not knock-offs.....these babies cost about $50
The are awesome boots, but only if you can get the dog to settle to put them on. First is getting the right size. Treesa should be wearing a size small, I think. Size is important. Too big and they feel like flippers. Too small, and you'll never get them on. Long nails will make putting the boots on more difficult. If the nails are long, then I actually recommend putting on a baby sock first (btw I recommend the same if you are using the balloon boots, PAWZ - which are awesome too). To put on the boots....have treats handy. I find it easiest to put the dog on his back with legs in the air...if your dog dog will put up with it. btw..... I encourage all dog owners to train their dogs to lay on their backs. Its easy...belly rubs and treats. Ok back to putting on the boots.....with dog tucked between your legs on the floor, on her back, get the dog to settle. Once settled, take the boot and insert index figure on each side and stretch it wide. Pull the boot up as high as possible. The muttlucks have a velcro strap Wrap this really tight. If you don't, you leave the boots behind while you walk. Trust me, on this. Tight will not hurt their foot, so go as tight as you dare. Don't forget to reward and treat, and also you want to get the dog outside as soon as possible with the boots on so that they associated boots = playtime outdoors! When you first put them on, the dog may walk funny at first (i've got hilarious videos of dogs putting on boots for the first time). But once they associate boots with walkies, they love it. Hope this helps!

Oh I know that- the ones we bought (not muttlucks) are the knockoffs, about half the price of regular muttlucks

Just had to share this.....Some dogs react really funny to wearing boots and coats.
I brought Indy into the store to be groomed today. (Looks gorgeous btw, even if he is a little fat right now). I had to go to the bank to do a store deposit. When I walked back into the store, my groomer had Indy outfitted in a pink parka with hood and legs. He was frozen solid and would not move. I called him to me, and he walked over to me sideways, like a crab! Then started walking backwards. I could not even get him to come to me even when I offered a big, big treat! I laughed to hard, I had tears coming out of my eyes. Sorry, Indy....you are fired as a store model!

When we tried boots on Hollie she would walk and shake her feet!!! It was so funny. We have a video somewhere of it. We never even tried with Shelby. I think she would just lay down and pull them off.
