Default Kentucky Home?

I've tried to find a sheltie to rehome in Kentucky with little luck. The contacts I do find want me to have a fence; and only part of the property I am at is fenced. Any dog we rehomed would be an inside dog, let out only on a leash or walked, not loose. I'm interested in any age dog, any color, papers or no and can't seem to find anything even near me in central KY. Can anyone point me in the right direction in this state? Or surrounding states? I'm willing to drive several hours [and frequently drive back to MO for visitation and can consider dogs along that route]. Please help me to welcome a new sheltie into our home. I grew up with them and now the house feels empty without one. Thank you.

I'm from Shepherdsville just outside of Louisville and know a few who might be able to help.
Contact Barbara Boylan from Louisville Metro Sheltie Rescue 502-447-6527
or Jenny Smith Heartland Sheltie Rescue (around New Albany, Indiana) 812-216-1228 http://www.facebook.com/HeartlandSheltieRescue
I'm pretty sure Jenny allows nonfenced yard to the right situation so long as the dog will be exercised and walked on leash.
and while not a rescue per say, Agatha Graham occasionally takes in rescue shelties to rehome, so may or may not have something available muttstuffky@hotmail.com

It's unfortunate that so many rescue groups require fences, but it's pretty common. This is something we've discussed many times on this forum... you're definitely not alone in running into problems trying to adopt because you lack a fence! We don't have a fence either, and the Sheltie rescue here won't consider any applicants without a fully fenced yard either, so it prevented us from adopting as well.

Hopefully one of those contacts that HopeShelties provided will come through for you, MissGenny!

Keep us posted, and when you do find your new pup, be sure to post lots of pictures!

Here is another mix. They do out of area/state adoptions, and since it's a shelter, probably doesn't have the fence requirement. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24092780.
