Default New member, Dermatomyositis questions

Hi, I am new to the group and was hoping to find some people with experience with dermatomyositis. I adopted a sheltie from a co-worker who got in over her head with two puppies. In the last few weeks, she has had several areas of hair loss, scaly yucky skin on her face, ears and fronts of her legs. Visited the vet today and he believes that it is DM. Any info from sheltie owners who have dealt with this is much appreciated.

Here is a link to some info on DM from Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue. They also list some contacts for your vet to get more info. Good Luck.

I do know it varies in severity and stress can bring it on so the change in homes may be causing her recent outbreak. There are meds to help control it.

Default Try Vibrant Pets (50% off on Black Friday)

I highly recommend Vibrant Pets. It's a superb supplement for skin -- and it's guaranteed! Plus, on Friday, Lee is having a 50% off sale. Go to
www.vibrantpets.net
Code: VPblackfriday

I'd recommend the Skin and Coat formula. Also, if you call, Lee is more than happy to discuss things with you.

I know the developed/CEO. He lives in my town. If this stuff didn't work, we'd run him out of town on a rail. But it does -- I swear it changed my Shelties' health. I do not get any kickback -- I simply share because it works.

I'm no expert, but about a month and a half ago, my now 6 month old lost some fur on his front right leg. It has since grown to about the size of a quarter. It's not itchy or scabby, and its the only spot on him. I had hoped he had just gotten a little rough playing with other dogs, but it still hasn't gone away. Of course I jumped to the conclusion that he must have DM, the vet suggested mange, and that if it got worse or appeared in more areas we'd do a skin test.

I'm hoping that whatever it is, will clear up as he gets older. I understand puppies have weaker immune systems and are more prone to show symptoms of both of these things, and often just outgrow them (at least the symptoms). Good luck, I hope your little girl gets better soon
