That's why two weeks after Samantha went to the bridge, I called sheltie rescue and adopted Katie. Missing Sam was hard, not having a sheltie was awful!! They can never be replaced, but at least you can fill that missing sheltie spot, and give another wonderful companion a loving forever home in the bargain!

You have given Mctavish the greatest gift of love. I am holding you close in my prayers tonight, Sanda.

Our vet comes to our home when these times come. He is kindness and gentleness itself. He clips a clear space on the leg and slips in the medication. We all Bear the Big Red Dog as he slipped into eternity, and Dr. Keith was tearful as well. When my Collie Lassie failed, I held her head in my lap and sang her special song as she stepped across to the fields of Rainbow Bridge. We always send Dr. Keith away with warm embraces and a bottle of fine wine, for it's just as hard for him.

Our memories are far more sweet than bitter...

Default My Sympathy

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve. I have been mourning my Georgie all week as I took her to the vet this past Monday. It's hard to do, but holding them as they leave is the last best act of love we can give them. My tears have flowed every day as I find one of her toys where she hid it, and washed all her pillows and bed cover. I have just tried to concentrate on all her sweetness and spunkiness and I'm grateful to have been her mom even for a short time.

My heart truly breaks for you. I am so sorry for all that you have been through.

My heart aches for you. It is a hard thing to loose our dear ones. I swear that I saw Katie a few times. Hugs to you in your loss.
