    Ann, I'm sure it's coming - when we started with chip marking, there was also some confusion.

    But now we have one register and have to make a reregistration if the dog changes owner.

    None of Fasb's vets ever mentioned scanning or microchipping to me. Consequently, we never thought to get him chipped. Kinda wish we had, although we kept a close eye on Fasb and never really had a close call with him (getting loose).

    I didn't realize the practice is becoming more common until we got involved with a rescue/shelter operation last year and discovered they chip every dog they take in (they also foster every animal they take until a permanent home is found. Didn't realize some shelters do that either). Then we discovered a number of area vets aggressively push for microchipping and scan new patients.
