    Hi everyone,

I joined this forum a while ago to talk and read all about shelties and just generally be a part of the community. But faith has it and another dog has arrived in our family and we couldn't be happier! Although she is not a sheltie :barefoot:

Sheltie peepz, meet Nomi! See pictures here: https://goo.gl/photos/8oVGseRoPVicZ9A78
Nomi is a spanish Podenco Ibicenco otherwise known as Ibizan hound. They're not very common except for in Spain and Portugal, either way these are a sort of sighthounds quite like greyhounds, bred originally for chasing and catching rabbits. She and her sister were abandoned at a very young age in Ibiza and were saved by a couple of really nice ladies who happen to have a small, non-profit organization for saving animals in need. Once they were old enough to fly, they were on their way to their new forever homes in the Netherlands. Or so it seemed.. The sister did find her forever home, but Nomi however didn't... Long story short, she's 8 months old and has switched 6 homes already. But this is her last one!:X3:
We are absolutely in love and Ziva loves having a big sister! Nomi is a very athletic young lady, despite her being underweight and loves exercising, but she's also the biggest couch potato we've ever encountered.:barefoot::barefoot::barefoot: The spanish lady is very displeased with the dutch weather, which is quite hillarious:ROFLMAO: she refuses to go out in the rain or to walk through a puddle of water.. You can see pure disgust on her face :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: She's quite the character!
We're blessed to have her and we believe that she thinks so too:love::love::love:
    Have a nice day everyone!

Edit: Of course i forgot to link the album with Nomi's pictures... :joyful:

Welcome back, Avon! What an elegant dog Nomi is...congratulations on adding her to your family. I'm sure Ziva enjoys having a pal. Look forward to hearing about their adventures! (y)

Thank you both for the lovely comments:geek:
Nomi has been with us for 2 weeks now and we could never be without her anymore! It's funny to think that this was a so called "nightmare dog". The previous owners told us she was destructive, hyperactive, didn't listen, etc etc etc. Indeed when we got her she didn't even know her own name (Romi was her name, so we took the opportunity and fixed it up to our choosing immediately:ROFLMAO:). She didn't know basic commands and walking on the leash was quite dramatic: pulling, growling and barking at other dogs or even humans, trying to chase birds... The turn-around that she made within this short amount of time is INSANE. We got her a decent harness and the pulling on the leash is over. Growling and barking at dogs was a sign of anxiety and she copied Ziva's chilled out behaviour and it's pretty much over. Birds are still very tempting, but hey it's a hunting dog, i dont blame her! She knows her name and how to sit, stay, lie down... She is very eager to learn. So far, only one shoe has suffered a sad fate.:facepalm:haha
We are amazed with her progress and she seems to be a really laid back dog! I have no idea what those people were doing with her, but somehow they got the worst out of her!
