Hi brit1! My husband is 65 and I'm 60 and we just moved into a senior independent living place. Luckily, we were able to get a small duplex, but it's not the same as having a house with acreage.
I've had shelties most of my life. Our current sheltie is Buddy, a three year old. He's doing just fine here. We've only been here a month, and most people don't have dogs, but some do. People are always asking about Buddy, and I walk him most everyday for at least 1/2 hour. If you have any problems with your sheltie, just take him to a good trainer. They should be able to help you. Most shelties really want to please their owners and will do a little happy dance once you tell them "good boy" and they've finally figured out what it is you want them to do. It will help to get a sheltie now, so that you can train him at home, then he should behave when you move. Good luck. That senior sheltie will pay back every bit of love that you give him.
