Thanks for all your input! We live in PA. Amber doesn't sneak up behind me, although she does sometimes grab onto your ankles/feet. is that a herding clue? she also loves to race in tight circles around the living room table. :smile2:

My sheltie has chewed up/ripped... blanket slippers stuffed animals rope toys the wall :lol: fortunately she now has her durable toys (kong) caroline

so it seems we have a mix of getting shelties from breeders and rescues alike. i'd love to rescue, but when i went to the spca near my home i didn't find a suitable dog. Hopefully i can also rescue dogs in the future. Caroline & Amber

I've heard of herding contests before, but i barely know anything about them. does anyone know information about those?? i'd like to train Amber in herding, but unfortunately the nearest farm that belongs to people I know is pretty far. :(

Does anyone have a sheltie who gets carsick easily? My Amber, she can't take a car ride that's over around 15 mins long. i know someone else whose sheltie gets carsick too, so i'm wondering if that's common among shelties? caroline

When I'm trimming my sheltie's claws, I put her on a chair and she won't move around as much as on the ground; she doesn't like heights very much. I don't mean to make her uncomfortable- but it's the only way to cut her nails, and it's much faster. just in case it helps yours. :smile2:
