    Thank you so much RickyR!

I went to the local high-end pet store that I was sure would have Made in US stainless steel bowls. NOT! I voiced my displeasure immediately.
I came home and read your post and immediately did a search for NSF certified dog bowls. Yes, these were 2-1/2 times higher in cost than what they had in the pet store from China and India. I am willing to pay it for the health and well being of my dogs.

I did a search on the web and came up with this link:

easy solution, I just used a soup pot and a saucepan for water bowls. I needed deeper bowls for 4 pets in summer (and Mr D drank a lot) and with a bad back the handles are useful for picking up. I do have a ceramic bowl in the backyard tho. As for food bowls I use Corelle human bowls, small for cats and the shallow one for the dogs (Mr D had a looong nose), so they can go in dishwasher. It was either Chris or Ann who recommended the bowls and they are great.

These are the bowls that I use. Yes, expensive, but my dog has had so many health issues, bowls were an easy choice to change to what I hope has the least amount of chemicals. I have 3 mediums that I use for water bowls and 4 smalls that I use for food. I use 1 water bowl and 2 food bowls a day. All used bowls are cleaned in the dishwasher every night. Every few weeks, I clean them with vinegar and baking soda to remove any build-up.

As for water, I use bottled water. My dog had a lot of UTI's and urine crystals when she was young. One of the changes that helped her was switching from tap to bottled water. I do worry about the plastic, but you have to pick your battles.

The only issue I have is that the food bowl slides off my pet mat, because there isn't a grip or anything on the bottom of the bowls.. Sometimes Bailey's bowl would end up on the other side of the room. I recently bought a ceramic bowl from Target for $5 that has a rubber grip on the bottom. I put the small stainless steel bowl inside the ceramic one. That worked like a chime.

I have a raised bowl that I put it into so I won't have that issue!
