Brain toys?

Hi everyone,
Pippi is 6 months old and is spending between 1 and 2 1/2 hours a day at home alone in her run or ex pen. Does anyone have any suggestions of toys we could leave wth her during these times to keep her engaged?

I would not leave any puzzle type toy alone with an unsupervised dog. They often have removable pieces that can become a choking hazard. When we were getting Olive to adjust to crating, we'd stuff a tiny bit of peanut butter at the tip of a kong then stuff the rest with green beans so she had to work to remove it. She sleeps the majority of the time she's crated.

With Honey I liked to spread food out throughout several layers of a towel and she could dig for it. I'd try that a few times when you're home to make sure your pup isn't going to just try and chew through the towel to get to it, once you're sure she understands digging to reach it, it's a great game that really tired Honey out.

Again if your dog isn't a chewer, a heavy duty water bottle with a hole cut into it can be a good treat dispenser too, and one you can reconfigure to make it harder or easier.

Hi Pippi! Aimee loves the PetSafe Busy Buddy Waggle on Amazon. She'll run with the toy in her mouth and then drop it to get the treats that fall out. It's so cute! But she'll need some room for that. No small parts she could swallow in that.

I also got her the PetSafe Busy Buddy Magic Mushroom Meal Dispensing Dog Toy. No small parts, however it's noisy on hard floors and if Pippi is noise sensitive, she probably won't like it. I plan on re-introducing it to Aimee on the carpet since I like the idea of it :)
