OMG this morning as we were playing frisbee with the dogs on the wide lawns of city college, as we do every Sunday morning, I looked up to see Elijah looking very worried and working his mouth weirdly. So I ran over and saw drops of blood on his head! I opened his mouth and he was bleeding and missing an incisor (the small teeth between the fangs) on the bottom. And as I touched the other teeth there I realized another one is loose and ready to fall out. Hubby had just brushed their teeth Friday night and all was fine.
He actually had not caught a frisbee either, just chased it, so I have no idea why that tooth suddenly came out. Arrrgghh. So I will be calling the vet on Monday morning. The rest of his teeth look pretty good except a bit of tartar here and there especially the farthest back molars on the top but nothing serious. So we'll see what she says, but if he needs a dental and X-rays, it is going to cost a mint. His bottom incisors have never been completely straight up, but kind of angled out a bit. What a shock though and definitely put a damper on our morning fun.
