I came across this recipe for a 4 ingredient dog cookie icing and finally had a chance to give it a try. Here’s the recipe and my review of this recipe. It’s a simple recipe but I did have to tweak it a bit to make it work better.
1/4 water
1/4 corn starch
2 tsp honey
Food colouring (optional)
I made the recipe as directed (mix water and cornstarch together, add honey) but found it too runny so I dumped it out and started over this time in a pot. I put my water in the pot, added honey and some of the cornstarch (maybe 1/8th of a cup) and let it thicken up over low heat and voila…perfect dipping icing. If it’s too thick you can add more water (if you want a bigger batch just use the full amount of cornstarch and add more water as it thickens).
Here’s a picture of the cookies. I didn’t bake these…we have a product here called Rollover, it’s a semi moist chub of dog food that you can slice. I use it for training treats sometimes and sometimes I dehydrate it. This was sliced and dried.
perfect cookies for Christmas morning (or anytime you have something to celebrate!
This will dry and last for quite some time.
