Some posts mention using chewing gum. What brand of gum works well?
I have never used gum.
But, please be careful as many gums now have xylitol which is toxic to dogs!
Thank you. Probably won't use gum at all. Just noticed references in some older posts.
I have never used gum (although I too have seen mention of it). With my current pup as well as my last I use Sheltie ear tape (aka Japanese ear tape) which I spray with started fluid (makes it super sticky). Works great and usually lasts 3-4 weeks (depending on how crafty your pup is lol).
I got the tape but not the talent to use it, I will look at some YouTubes.
Our boy is super sensitive about his ears.
I used chewing gum - any type of chewing gum is fine except for the low/no calorie kind which tends to use Xylitol. Chewy is pretty common here for tipping the ears - we don't do such high set ears here. Chew it first yourself and then start with a small amount, better to add more if the ears start to creep up.
They all are lol but they do get used to it. If your just using the tape just make sure you massage it after you apply it because that warms it up and helps it stick better.
Thanks I will experiment starting small.
Do you use glue with the tape?
Maybe I don't have the best tape.
It is not double sided.
