First Ingredients in dog food

The choices are end less and confusing for me .I did lots of research after Teddy reached 31 pounds during the pandemic. In March we visited the Vet for a weight Management visit I wanted to increase exercise but also wanted to make sure he was healthy enough to do it I am happy to say at his July visit he was 28.1. We have increased our walks to 4 miles a day once in the morning and once in the evening. He gets 1/3 cup of food 3 times a day and green beans for treats. I have been using Blue Buffalo weight maintenance formula.A side benefit is I have lost 10 lbs. because of the exercise I would like Teddy to get to 25 lbs.
how old is Teddy? typically only puppies get fed 3x a day. mine have been switched to 2 meals a day by the time they're 8-9 months old.

Teddy is 2 years and 4 months. I was feeding 3/4 cups of food twice a day but after his Vet put him at 1 cup a day and his first 2 mile walk in the morning my buddy was hungry so I have done 3 times and he seems to like it along with his green bean treats.

If you were to ask him, he would say the ones that made out were his friends around town who were gifted his boxes of old snacks.

Shelties pretty much always act like they are starving- if I let them choose how much food they should get, they'd each want their own bag:winkgrin:
My 2 boys that are near 17"-18" at the shoulder get 1/2 cup in the morning and in the evening. they are about 28 lbs - give or take. My other 2 shelties that are closer to or under 15" at the shoulder get 1/4 cup in the morning and evening. these two are closer to 15-18 lbs.

Teddy's weight will come down with all the exercise and although he may tell you he's starving.... he's not.just reduce his food to 2/3 a cup and use those green beans as an additive so he feels like he's got a full belly.and congrats on your weight loss.. love and hugs

Randy will be 8 on May 31. Tonight I gave him 3/4 cup of the Nurto Ultra. I think I'll try cutting him down to 3/4 2X/day this weekend and see how he does.
Luke gets two meals a day too
