This past weekend, Missy and I were at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows where we competed in the Let Freedom Race XIII flyball tournament. Missy had a perfect weekend. No mistakes! We ran on a team on Friday for fun, ended up getting 2nd place in Open 1. There weren't a whole lot of entries so we ended up in Open 1. Saturday-Sunday we ran on our normal team with our club. We ended up being in sync the whole weekend end took 1st for our division (regular 4). We had a lot of fun and got over 1000 points to go toward our next title. Adam, a photographer from Dixie Flyers, took some great pictures of Missy. There are over 40, but I picked a few for you guys to see. They aren't organized by race or day, but by what she's actually doing. I just thought it would be fun for you to see how it looks put together. Enjoy!

WE are jealous of Missy's turn. Sca does not get up near enough on the box. I am thinking he looses half a second easy. Missy looked great!

Some dogs just struggle with that. I know I've said it before, but I take no credit for her turn. Our good friend Alan trained her, and the rest of it was Missy. She did it pretty naturally. I think I sent you a video from when she first started doing the pattern. She would go really slow, and her box turn was slow, but it was still "correct". We started out with the ball on the ledge, and a lot of dogs are tempted to just reach up and grab it, but she's always turned.

Great photos! I sure do wish we had flyball here. I think Zulu would really enjoy it.

Yep looks like you would have to head to TX or Pensacola, long way either way.

Over 4 hour drive to Houston. Yikes!
If you have a group of people who are interested in starting a club, you can always invite somebody from Houston to drive out there and help you get started on training. Then for tournaments you would have to drive to the Houston area (or Pensacola), but we have people making that long of drive to tournaments already. We have Dallas folks who come down for tournaments. It would just get expensive, because it would require driving and staying overnight a couple nights. And it takes up your entire weekend. If you have family that you like to spend time with on weekends, it's not the activity for you (unfortunately).

They did not do a Florida one this year. The panhandle teams tend to come up into District 14 and run with us. The closest in district 14 would be Clanton lately.
