Grooming Area Layout

I'm thinking ahead to Christmas (LOL!).

We have space in our garage where I would like to put a grooming station. The space is about 8'x6' and there's even plumbing on the 8' wall. I figure if I start cleaning out and organizing that space now, and make a plan on what kind of fixtures and equipment we need to finish it out, my odds of claiming that space for grooming are pretty good.

How big is your grooming space? What do you like best about your space? What would you do differently? What equipment is essential? What isn't worth the bother? Post photos! Give me some ideas!

SIGH, jealous of 'getting a grooming area' and 'having a grooming area'!! I may just have to chat with the hubby!

Boy, I would kill for a sink like that. What an excellent area! Actually, I'd just love a place to put it. My bathing area is the bathtub with hand shower and my "grooming space" is the kitchen which has the best light where I put my grooming table. I figure dog fur in food is protein, right?

All I can say if there's ever a next house for us it will be doggie oriented!!!! (Hear that, hubby?) OK OK, a golf room too.... :rolleyes2:

When I moved in, that room was a concrete slab, with bare walls. Once a year I clean and flip those foam tiles, right now they are on the bright side. :smile2: The table is pretty cool, it is payment (rent) from a friend who uses our grooming room and tub to wash her Poodles. Her house doesn't have enough water pressure to rinse the dogs well, so she brings them here. That table goes up and down and spins.

Yes, the room needs a good vacuuming and cleaning. :smile2:

The tub is on the other side of the basement, next to the washing machine. The old laundry tub is what is holding the towels, none of us could lift it up the steps out of the basement. It's one of those old concrete ones.

Thats one solid concrete laundry tub there! YIKES!!! :) I love the tiles...I have those too I put them down when I have puppies down there tearing though it gives them some extra traction!!

I finally brought my dogs to a real, live Sheltie groomer last week.

Her grooming space looked to be about 10 x 10.

It really is all about placement though, I think. You want to be able to move efficiently from sink to table to products, to kennel for dring.

I think 8 x 6 is a little small, but could work if properly laid out, ergonomically speaking.
