I did a lot of posting on the Sheltie forums from around 2013 to 2016, but fell off after a personal health crisis which fortunately resolved with no lasting complications. I lost my beautiful big sheltie Dickens in early January of this year, and for a while ... oh, say a week ... I thought I'd have to give up on the idea of having another Sheltie in my life, until I found a nice breeder about three hours away in northern Maryland who just happened to have a litter of the plumpest, sweetest, healthiest-looking pups. So now I can hear the pitter-patter of little Sheltie feet in the house again! His name is Mr. Pip. He's a bi-blue; father was a beautiful blue merle and mother a stunning bi-black.

He's been with me for a week now, and like most Shelties, he's pretty smart, and catches on to things quickly. He does fairly good recall, which is a good thing, because on the second day I had him I spent ten minutes chasing him around the yard trying to catch him! He also does sit, and walks really well on a leash. I've had very few "potty" incidents with him (three total), no doubt because the breeder did a good job with him, but also because I take him out right after eating and at regular intervals thereafter.
He's a cocky little guy, and not startled by loud noises, but like my Dickens he's cautious around strangers. We're going out to the park today for the first time, and I'll see how he does in a place where there are lots of people who will probably want to pet him!
