:smile2: Good Morning everyone !!

This is such a great idea so that all Sheltie lovers can keep in touch and help one another whenever possible. Sharing stories of shelties who havegone to that Rainbow bridge is extremely helpful because the sheltie ie just so precious. also Shelties are hard to come by in this neck of the woods !! We use to have several breeders up this way but now have none!! I was fortunate enough to locate one breeder in Franklin, NH which is several hours south of us but that is great !! Well Welcome to everyone and hope this forum just gets better and better.

Elaine

Hello from a former New Englander here (born and raised in RI/Mass)! You know, now that I think of it, I don't think I ever saw a Sheltie when I was growing up there. Now, in WV, and when I lived in FL, I see them all over.

Hi Snowy

When did you move to West Virginia ? Most dogs up this way tend to be hunting type dogs. Labs, retrivers, Huskies for the sled pulling, But the Black and yellow labs are apparently the dogs of choice up here. I still prefer my Shelties !! I can't wait till my little sable and white female pup is old enough to come home with my husband and myself.

Good Morning Julie and Shelties

Thanks for the welcome. Yes it's nice to have somewhere to go to swap Sheltie stories or questions we may have. As I was telling Snowy, the Sheltie is a difficult dog to find up here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I finally found one breeder in Franklin NH which is about 1 1/2 hours away not bad at all. I had done months of research trying to find a breeder that was local. For awhile we had a few right in Littleton, NH which is just 20 minutes away but they all stopped breeding. I got my first Sheltie Jewel from a woman in Littleton who was just a small breeder but was getting up in years so she is no longer breeding, Then there was Fleur de lis Shelties also in Littleton and he no longer breeds.:( Tough to accomplish, even through rescue none have been available up this way. But of course that is a good thing, right.:biggrin2: That just means the ones that are up this way have forever homes. Have a great day !

Fleur de Lis

Hi Elaine!

Funny you mention Fleur de Lis Shelties in Littleton NH. That's where we got our Chloe from. So whatever happened to Daniel Mowery? He had expressed interest in hearing about Chloe and how she's doing, but him and his kennel just kind of disappeared.....:confused2:

I'm Krista, live in S. Massachusetts, and we have Chloe as well as Woody, a rescue Sheltie from Granite State Sheltie Rescue. And I'm excited about these forums too-I love Sheltie talk! LOL

Krista

Welcome Krista,

I haven't the faintest what happened to him His web site is gone he use to do sheltie rescue up this way but I don't hear anything about him anymore. That is whom I was trying to get my new Sheltie from. I like to try to do local if possible. I found a Breeder in Franklin New Hampshire. Fair Isle Shelties. The pups were born 2/19/08 . They are just Starting to open their eyes Bronwyn tells me. That is the Breeders name.
Isn't that funny how you can meet people who are locals as well. I live in Landaff, NH which is just 2 towns south west of Littleton. Your Sheltie Chloe, which is also My Grand-Daughters name:lol:, How old is she ? What coloring is she ? I had a Blue Merle with Blue eyes. She was the light of my life. She passed to the Rainbow Bridge, 10/26/07. They become members of your family. They have such great personalities don't they ? Well nice to meet you Krista and best of luck with Chloe and Woody. Enjoy the forums and looking forward to seeing you on the forums .

Fellow Sheltie lover,

My Chloe is a blue merle girl with ice blue eyes! She's now 10 years old; I got her from Daniel when she was 2 yo in 11/99. Her name is Fleur'de'lis Has Sacre Blue, but we liked Chloe better! Woody is an oversized sable boy who's also 10 years old; we adopted him in 5/05. He looks a lot like Lassie!

I've been finding that there's not many Sheltie breeders in the MA-NH-RI area. We're currently looking into getting another Sheltie, but it's been tough tracking local breeders down. I'm sure a special Sheltie will cross our path sometime soon-they always do! :smile2:

Hi guys...

Looks like the introductions are getting off course in this thread. I suggest someone start a new one in the breeding section of the forum to talk about past/current breeders. :wink2:

Hello

I'm Marion, live in NJ and have five Shelties. Four pet quality, Holly, a 7 yr old tri bitch, Kira, a 6 yr. old blue merle bitch, Blitz, a 5 yr. old sable merle neutered dog, Coal, a 5 yr. old bi black neutered dog and Storm, not quite 7 mos., a bi blue dog. He is my breed show hopeful! I am working with someone who is mentoring me - teaching me show handling, grooming, etc. for the breed ring. She has also been helping me bracing his ears. I am also started in agility with him, as she teaches agility as well! I've wanted to get involved in the breed ring since I was a kid, it's finally happening now! I guess it's never too late.

I found all my Shelties on the internet, from various breeders, all were active showing in the breed ring. My first four were pet quality for various reason, being oversize, a bad mover, etc. They are the most wonderful pets though! A great site to look is www.everythingsheltie.com

I hope to make it to a National one day, I just went to my first all breed show in Feb. It was very exciting since my mentor's bitch went all the way and took a Group 2. She finished her at the next show, and then the next week, put a MACH on her as well. I'm really lucky that she lives so close and that she has been so generous with her time helping me. I could not do it on my own.

Marion
