How long to regrow coat?

Our sheltie had a broken leg--both radius and ulna--just above the carpal joint--and the orthopedic vet specialists who screwed in a plate over the break (and then took it out!) have shaved her on one side from chest to paw: excessive, I think; but I suppose they want to minimize the risk of infection to below zero.

They also shaved her other leg for the IV--not quiet as much--but still a lot.

So how long does it take a Sheltie's coat to grow all the way back?

It's not about how she looks: but she really wants to lick those areas, and we have to keep her in a recovery suit to prevent her doing that

You should start to see fuzz pretty quickly....in a week or two. Full growth will take about a season, and depending on her color too. Tris and blue merles grow coat faster than sables. If her diet will tolerate it, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to her food once a day. Start slowly and work up to a teaspoon. I hope she's recovering well!

Hope your pup recovers- sounds like a bad break. Our dogs have had the shave for IV before and they seemed pretty quickly regrew they fir on their legs.. when they were neuters their bellies were shaved as well and that grew back pretty quickly as well.. but the most important think is the recovery and that she is doing well.
